An elegant Sorrentine Gozzo, an icon of Italian craftsmanship by Fratelli Aprea
Our Fratelli Aprea Gozzo, built in 2004, has been lovingly and expertly restored. Thanks to the Manovali family’s long experience in restoration, this boat has been brought back to its original glory. The beautiful teak deck and solid mahogany gunwales pay tribute to the beauty of wood, while the spacious interior offers unparalleled comfort. Picture yourself at the bow, basking on the large sunbed, with the warm summer sun of Lake Garda and the hypnotic sound of the waves. Or relax at the stern, enjoying a slow cruise along the shore, discovering hidden corners.
A Gozzo from the renowned Di Luccia shipyard in Castellammare di Stabia
The Di Luccia Gozzo, handcrafted in 2015, is a masterpiece of artisan skill and unmatched reliability. Custom-designed for our work, it replaces the classic Sorrentine style with a more lake-oriented model, offering spacious interiors and seating all around the boat for a perfect view from every angle. Weighing 5.5 tons, this boat offers a smooth and relaxing experience, even when the lake isn’t calm—so you won’t end the ride with a sore back, as often happens with the flashy speedboats popular today. This Gozzo has repeatedly proven its durability and efficiency. In 2025, we will celebrate its tenth anniversary—a milestone that speaks for itself.

Our Story: A Journey Through Time

This project, originally launched under the name Manovali in 1924, was born from the passion of Battista Manovali (1884–1975).
After returning from war and settling back into the family home, Battista commissioned a boat from Serafino Riva, naming it Dea—a true prototype of the now-iconic Riva brand. At that time, Riva focused primarily on building speedboats for racing rather than recreational purposes.
In 1926, his brother Carlo (1896–1937) joined the venture by purchasing a second boat, Serenella, also from the same shipyard.
During their operation, they had the honor of transporting prominent historical figures such as Gabriele D’Annunzio and the royal family of Belgium. Unfortunately, in 1937, the business came to an abrupt halt following Battista's death on February 2nd. Soon after, the company closed its doors, also due to the growing uncertainty and fear brought by the approaching war, which led to a sharp decline in tourism on Lake Garda.

The Manovali family returned to the boating world in 1960, building a small warehouse for boat storage—mainly housing the typical fishing boats of the lake. Over time, each family member specialized in a different area of nautical craftsmanship: from mechanics to carpentry, to fiberglass repair. Meanwhile, in 1966, Giuseppe Don obtained the taxi boat license for Salò, and the business continued first with his brother and then with his son, Matteo.
In 2024, exactly 100 years after its original founding, the Manovali name returned to lake taxi service, thanks to Battista’s grandson. By acquiring the company from the Don family, he aimed to revive the culture and tradition that have always defined us, with the hope of sharing them with you—our cherished guests.
